Your missions in this web quest are as follows:  

Please read all instructions before beginning.

1.  Read and Research

You are to choose two women from the list on the next page.  First you will follow the links provided to get you started and do some research on your own.  Learn what you can about the women you chose.  Keep notes because you will need them.  You will also read works that they have written or watch videos of their works performed.  Also follow the links and learn about feminism and how it is different for African American women.  

2. Reflect and Brainstorm

Next you will reflect on what you have learned about each woman.  How are they similar.  How are they different. How their lives and writings contribute to the cause of African American feminism.  

3. Express

Now it is your turn.  Choose an essay assignment and a creative assignment to express what you have learned.  Choose one from each list. 

Essays: 

Write an essay about one of the women you chose and how she contributed to African American Feminism.

Write a comparison about the two women you chose.

Write an  essay explaining African American Feminism. 

Creative:

(This should be inspired by what you have learned from one or both of the women you studied.)

Create a work of art (painting, drawing, sculpture) 

Write a poem of a song

Create a video or presentation
